Contract Scope:

 

The project encompasses the design, upgrading / rehabilitation, construction, equipment, testing and commissioning of the construction works and electrification of 104 km of single track railway line in accordance with the Conditions of Contract for Plant and Design-Build for electrical and mechanical plant, and for building and engineering works, designed by the Contractor, Fist Edition 1999 (FIDIC’s Yellow Book).

The project starts after Parvomai station at km 202+300 where Phase 1 finishes and ends after Svilengrad station – at the Turkish and Greek border. The railway line will be reconstructed for maximum train speed of 160 km/h for conventional rolling stock and 200 km/h for tilting trains.

The project includes the construction of the following:

  • 2 substations in Simeonovgrad and Svilengrad
  • The construction of a new station – Karadzhalovo
  • Railway tunnel with a length of 400 m before Simeonovgrad
  • 51 massive railway structures
  • 7 underpasses
  • 179 culverts
  • 4 basic sectioning posts
